We caught up with Kornelija Slunjski, entrepreneur and host of the Boujee Best Friend Podcast, to find out her latest product obsessions and skincare secrets.
Q: Which SKKN BY KIM products are you loving right now?
This first product I fell in love with from the SKKN line was the Exfoliator. I never used to like using a physical exfoliant as I felt like they were too rough on my skin, but this one has the tiniest perfect round beads, and the rose essence is everything.
Q: What’s the best skincare tip you've ever learned?
The best skincare routine is the one you'll actually do every day. And remember to tailor your skincare to what works for you.
I understand that skincare can feel overwhelming if you have too many products, and sometimes you might not even know what they're for. Your friends might recommend products that aren't suitable for your skin type, and you end up buying them but not even using them. So, take your time while building your skincare routine.
Q: How were you introduced to skincare?
In my teenage years, I started getting interested in makeup and pursued my career as a makeup artist for almost a decade. As I learned from experts in the field, I realized that if you want to create flawless skin, preparing it properly comes first, and makeup comes second.
Q: How are you celebrating your birthday this month?
This year, my birthday was one of the best I've had in a long time. As someone originally from Croatia, it's difficult to see my family as often as I'd like. However, my brother (whom I'm really close to) and his fiancé came to visit me, and I felt an overwhelming sense of calmness. We planned a little staycation in one of my favorite hotels here in Miami, where we indulged in delicious food and relaxed.
Q: What are some of your favorite skincare ingredients?
I absolutely love hyaluronic acid. As we age, our skin loses elasticity and doesn't retain moisture the same way it did when we were babies. A good Hyaluronic Acid Serum is deeply penetrating and provides instant hydration, making it ideal for dry and dehydrated skin like mine.
Vitamin C is another must in my book, it’s an effective solution for reducing hyperpigmentation since it blocks melanin production. As someone who breaks out easily and lives in Miami, where I'm constantly exposed to the intense sun, using a Vitamin C Serum has been essential for my skincare routine.
